Hi All
Well nearly that time of year again. As you all know, sailing starts a week tomorrow and I hope as many of you as possible will be there. Unfortunately, I’m afraid that I won’t be able to do Race Officer for the first race (first time in about 15 years I reckon) as I will be working. Therefore, I am looking for a volunteer to take over. Please contact me if you can do it.
I am also looking for anyone who is free tomorrow, Saturday 9th April, at 10.30am to turn up at the dinghy park and help get everything ready for the start of the season. If you are free, please come along and help. We intend to scrape the slip as well, so if you are coming please bring a spade.
Ian Widdowson has agreed to co-ordinate Black Cap this year. If you are interested in volunteering please email him on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or contact me.
If you want to get involved in the Race Officer or Committee Boat side of things for Club racing or Open Events, I am always looking for helpers and I’m happy to train anyone who is interested. Please get in touch. Regatta Weekend is the 2nd/3rd July with Findhorn Week the 4th/8th July. We are also hosting one, possibly two traveller events on Regatta Weekend. As usual we will need help throughout the week, both afloat and ashore.
As you are aware from our previous email, I slightly overspent my budget for a new rescue boat (no comments about typical woman please!) so we will need to sell the original Rescue 2s engine and do a bit more fund raising to cover it. Dr Hornsby has agreed to do a talk on Friday 10th June about his experiences on Everest. This will be held in the Club and will include a basic supper. Further details to follow, but please mark the date in your diary.
